Polymer Optical Fiber (POF) for WLAN

WLAN is going to get more and more common and popular. Sadly we don’t have the same stable connection as we would have with cables. The speed is going up and down and the distance is limited. In bigger buildings with more floors the bandwidth is decreasing rapidly, because the signal is loosing its strength through walls. So we want to use the benefits of POF and WLAN.

Technical Explanation

  • The electrical signal (IP – Packets) will be converted to an optical signal at the media converter and sent over the Polymer Optical Fiber (or Plastic Fiber).
    At the receiver the optical signal will be converted back to an electrical signal.

  • POF Cable can be installed parallel with electrical wires.
  • No potential- and grounding problems.
  • Ideal for retrofitting and combining it with WLAN APs.
